How It Happened
Senior forward Peter Radojicic (Ljubovija, Serbia) began the game with a three-pointer and the Hillcats immediately tied it. Radojicic made one free throw and the teams traded baskets for the 6-5 StMU lead, however the Hillcats scored the next eight for the 13-6 advantage with 14:01 to play. Peterson stopped the streak with a layup, but RSU scored the next six to stretch its lead to 11, 19-8. Jordan hit a jumper and RSU answered with a three-pointer. Freshman Dylan Isenhower (Abilene, Texas) scored on a jumper and once again the Hillcats answered with a triple to extend their lead to 13 points, 25-12 with 11:37 to play. The tables flipped, RSU hit a jumper and Jordan responded with the triple, then each team scored two to keep it a 12-point game, 29-17 with 9:28 left. After an RSU layup, Benavides nailed a triple, but RSU hit one of its own to make it a 14-point game, 34-20 at the 8:01 mark. The teams exchanged baskets and then the Rattlers scored six straight to cut it to an eight-point game, 36-28. The Hillcats scored six of the final eight of the half to enter the locker room up 12, 42-30.

Rogers State scored the first four points of the second half, but the Rattlers answered with a seven-point run to cut the lead to nine, 46-37, with 16:13 left. Four different players scored during the run. After one free throw by RSU, Brooks hit a three-pointer to make it a seven-point game, 47-40. The teams went back-and-forth to 51-44 at 12:54 when RSU hit consecutive three-pointers to stretch its lead back to 13, but Brooks answered with a triple of his own and after one RSU free throw, the Rattlers sank three straight at the charity stripe so the scoreboard read 58-50 with 9:41 remaining. A traditional three-point play put the Hillcats up 11, but Brooks sank two free throws of his own to make it nine, 61-52 with 9:08 left. The Hillcats used a 16-2 run to open up a 23-point advantage with 5:29 left, 77-54, before Brooks made another layup to stop the streak. Trailing by 22, 85-63, the Rattlers went on an 11-1 run to cut the lead to 12, 86-74 with 52 ticks remaining. Traylor scored seven of the 11 points for the Blue & Gold.
