Rattlers strike early, burned late by Texans

HOUSTON — St. Mary's ended the Houston Invitational against regional-foe Tarleton State, falling to the Texans 7-3.
 
Andrew Perez put the Rattlers ahead in the 5th inning with an RBI single. He would finish the game 3-for-5 at the plate.
 
Just as impressive was Oscar Betancourt who posted a pair of runs and a double on a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.
 
But a five-run eighth by the Texans put the game out of reach for the Rattlers.
 
On the mound, Oscar De La Garza tossed seven complete innings allowing only one run while striking out eight in the loss.
 
The Rattlers will get another shot at the Texans when the two teams play a three-game series beginning on Friday at Dickson Stadium at 3 p.m.
