By Chad Peters | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

DALLAS — History was made last season when St. Mary's Men's Tennis won its first-ever Heartland Conference regular-season championship.

History was made once again on Saturday, as the 22nd-ranked Rattlers for the first time have secured back-to-back Heartland Conference regular-season titles.

St. Mary's defeated UAFS 8-1 at LB Houston to finish the regular season 4-0 in conference play, clinching the regular-season title outright. In the process, the Rattlers also earned their eighth straight victory, primed to enter postseason play red-hot.

The Snakes (15-6 overall) took a 2-1 lead into singles play, as No. 1 and 2 doubles teams of Adam Dockery/Jeremiah Gonzalez and Michael Maciel/Jose Antelo proved victorious. In singles, the Rattlers earned a clean sweep, headlined by Adam Dockery earning his 16th singles victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 3, tying the 16 victories teammate Jose Antelo posted last season. No Rattler on record has ever posted more dual singles victory in a single year.

Jeremiah Gonzalez and Jose Antelo also cruised in straight sets at No. 1 and 2, respectively, winning 6-4, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-1. At No. 4, Richard Foley made quick work of his opponent, prevailing 6-2, 6-3.

Felix Hollaway and Bojan Popovic also cruised in two sets at No. 5 and 6, winning 6-0, 6-2, and 7-5, 6-1, respectively.

St. Mary's will now turn its eye toward the Heartland Conference Championships. Stay tuned to RattlerAthletics.com for the latest information on the Rattlers' postseason opponent as soon as the schedule is released.
