Rattlers collect 40th win of season, down Toppers in season finale

SAN ANTONIO — The 52nd and final game of the regular season for the St. Mary's Rattlers began with senior day festivities as Miranda Medina, Olivia Van Hook, Alena Moreno, Ashley Mills and Jourdan Alvarez were recognized for their years with the softball program.
 
Each senior started the game as Miranda Medina finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to go along with three runs scored while Alvarez collected a double, RBI, run scored and a walk.
 
Ashley Mills delivered another masterful performance in the circle, dealing her second consecutive complete game shutout, allowing only three hits and striking out two.
 
Junior Alessandra Ortiz was a key contributor at the plate, producing a pair of hits and three RBI.
 
The win marks the fifth straight 40-win season for the Rattlers who clinched the No. 1 seed in the Heartland Conference yesterday.
 
St. Mary's will host the Heartland Conference Tournament next week, more information soon to follow on RattlerAthletics.com.
