Mills’ gem helps Rattlers claim series over Eagles

OKLAHOMA CITY — A one-hit, complete-game shutout from Ashley Mills secured a series win for the St. Mary's Rattlers against the Oklahoma Christian Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
 
Mills was key in the Rattlers 2-0 victory over the Eagles, following a 6-0 defeat that began the day.
 
The nightcap saw the Rattlers and Eagles battle at a standstill for five innings until Alessandra Ortiz posted an RBI single to center field that would score Miranda Medina. An inning later, a Raynelle Nash single scored Jourdan Alvarez, putting the Rattlers up for good.
 
The victory improved Mills' record to 12-2 on the season as the Rattlers moved to 37-12 and 13-5 in conference play.
 
In Game 1, the Rattlers offense could not gain any traction as they were held scoreless for only the third time this season.
 
Registering the only four hits of the game for the Rattlers were the top-four of the order. Alena Moreno, Kristal Salinas, Hannah Michel and Nash each finished 1-for-3 at the plate.
 
The Rattlers will conclude the regular season with a three-game series at home when they host St. Edward's starting on April 28 at 3 p.m.
