Doubles sweep leads Men's Tennis past #17 Drury

SAN ANTONIO — The Rattlers came out ready for a battle against No. 17 Drury University, defeating the Panthers 5-4 in an upset victory at Rohrbach Stadium.

Getting off to a fierce start in doubles, No. 2 tandem Michael Maciel and Jose Antelo showed the boys the way with the first win of the day, prevailing 8-2.

Following their stride came No. 3, Bojan Popovic and Alex Joseph, winning 8-4. Left to ride it out, No. 1 Adam Dockery and Jeremiah Gonzalez handled the Panthers, prevailing 8-6.

With the 3-0 lead heading into singles, Gonzalez led the way for the Rattlers, dominating his No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-0, to leave the Rattlers a point away from clinching victory.

With the No. 4 Adam Dockery right behind him and — and hungry for the clinch — he brought it home with a 6-0, 7-5 victory.

It marked a big win for the Rattlers as it was the second-highest ranked opponent they have defeated this season.
