SAN ANTONIO — A month after playing its last home game, St. Mary's wasted little time getting reacquainted with the friendly confines of the Softball Stadium inside the Park at St. Mary's, defeating the cross-town Our Lady of the Lake Saints 12-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rattlers jumped out to the early lead and never looked back, striking for six runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Miranda Medina grand slam that punctuated the inning. After adding a run an inning later, the Rattlers added four more to their lead in the third inning.

Elizabeth Phillips crushed her first home run of the season to conclude the Rattler scoring barrage in the fourth.

Nine of the 13 Rattlers that took the plate registered a hit. Hannah Michel finished the afternoon with a trio of hits including a double to go along with an RBI and two runs scored.

Alena Moreno went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI while Raynelle Nash finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs.

Producing off the bench was Jourdan Alvarez who registered base hits in each of her two at-bats.

After tossing three scoreless innings, allowing only three on base, Hope Russell collected her fourth victory of the season.

St. Mary's sets its focus to next week when Texas A&M Kingsville visits for a doubleheader on March 21 beginning at 4 p.m.
