Big 5th inning powers @StMUsoftball to 3rd straight win

DURANT, Oklahoma — No extra innings were needed this time, as the Rattlers collected their first non-extra-innings victory of the young season Saturday evening.

Keyed by a six-run fifth inning, No. 12 St. Mary's Softball knocked off Midwestern State 8-4 on Day 2 of the Southeastern Oklahoma Regional Invitational. 

Hannah Michel went 3 for 4 with one RBI in the game, while Alena Moreno and Miranda Medina also enjoyed multi-hit outings with two hits apiece. Raynelle Nash scored two runs in the game, while Marcela Vasquez, Alyssa Moscot, Olivia Van Hook, Staci Johns and Medina each drove in one run. 

The victory marked the Rattlers' (3-1) third straight following a pair of extra-inning victories over Missouri Southern and Arkansas Tech. 

Kristi Rangel earned the victory in the circle, her first of the season. She struck out three and walked one over five innings. She gave up just one earned run off three hits. 

St. Mary's will close out tournament play with a pair of games Sunday, starting off with a 9:30 a.m. matchup with Eastern New Mexico. At noon, the Rattlers will get another shot at Cameron, who is responsible for the Snakes' lone defeat.
