Men's Tennis pulls off 1st-ever win against Trinity

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Men's Tennis did something Saturday that records show never had been done before in the program's history: beat Trinity.

The Rattlers decisively defeated the Tigers on their campus Saturday afternoon, winning 7-2 to improve to 3-2 on the season.

St. Mary's took the all-important 2-1 advantage into singles after a great start to doubles play, highlighted by Adam Dockery and Jeremiah Gonzalez's victory in the No. 1 slot. the duo defeated Trinity's No. 1 team 8-6, while Michael Maciel and Jose Antelo prevailed 8-4 at No. 2.

The Snakes built on that momentum in singles, where Antelo was victorious again at No. 2, winning 6-0, 6-2. Gonzalez and Dockery also pulled off the 2-0 day, winning 6-1, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-2, respectively.

Also victorious for the Rattlers were Felix Hollaway at No. 5 (6-7, 6-1, 12-10) and Bojan Popovic at No. 6 (6-2, 5-7, 13-11).

The Rattlers will return to the courts on Friday, when they take on Cameron at 1 p.m. in Dallas.
