Rattlers rally late in comeback victory over #17 Saint Leo

CLEARWATER, Florida — Trailing by two in the bottom of the sixth inning, the No. 12 St. Mary's Rattlers struck for three runs enroute to a 5-4 victory over No. 17 Saint Leo on the final day of the NFCA Division II Leadoff Classic.
 
The Rattlers were led by Raynelle Nash who put them on the board in the first inning with an RBI double to right center.
 
Nash would collect a two-RBI single in the bottom of the sixth following an RBI single from Alena Moreno that would put the Rattlers up for good.
 
In the circle, Ashley Mills earned her third victory of the season after throwing 1.2 shutout innings as she struck out two batters.
 
Alessandra Ortiz contributed at the plate going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Hannah Michel, Marcela Vasquez and Brenda Iparraguirre each went 1-for-3 at the plate as the Rattlers picked up their third straight victory.
 
Moreno and Jorden Russell each earned spots on the All-Tournament Team for their efforts over the weekend.

Next, St. Mary's will return home for the annual Rattler Invitational for the team's first home games of the season beginning on Feb. 17 when it hosts Metro State.
