@StMUsoftball cruise to victories on Day 2 of Leadoff Classic

CLEARWATER, Florida — On Day 2 of the NFCA Leadoff Classic, the St. Mary's Rattlers erupted for a combined 17 runs in two games behind solid pitching performances from Hope Russell and Jorden Russell.
 
Game one, the Rattlers defeated Georgia College 10-2 in six innings.
 
Hope Russell collected her second victory of the season after tossing 4.1 innings, striking out three. Ashley Mills would take over and finish the game by retiring all five batters she faced in addition to striking out three.
 
Raynelle Nash was automatic at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, a run scored and a walk. Marcela Vasquez and Brenda Iparraguirre each went 1-for-3 with one run scored and an RBI.
 
In the nightcap, the Rattlers scored seven unanswered to defeat Cal (PA) 7-2.
 
Olivia Van Hook recorded a pair of hits with an RBI and a run scored. Miranda Medina went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
 
Jorden Russell tossed five shutout innings with four strikeouts to pick up her third victory of the season.
 
The Rattlers will cap their trip to Florida Sunday morning when they face Saint Leo in their final game at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
