Rattler duo exits nationals with 3rd-place finish

ROME, Georgia — After a defeat in Friday's semifinals, Bojan Popovic and Jeremiah Gonzalez came out strong fighting for third place against Albanese and Fernandez from Edinboro.}

_{The St. Mary's Rattler tandem managed to pull out a remarkable victory 6-1, 6-4 to receive third place in the ITA Oracle Cup, making Rattler history yet again Saturday.}

_{The day before, Popovic and Gonzalez fell 6-4, 6-2 to No. 4 Oliver Frank and Christian Schmid from Azusa Pacific in the semifinals.}

_{"We had opportunities to get a break go our way but fell short," coach Lisa Dausin said. "That team was too good to give any breathing room to, so they took it and ran with it after that."}

_{After a historical three-set battle the day before, the guys were unable to fully bounce back for the match ahead of them. Popovic and Gonzalez dug in the first set, chasing down opportunities they had to get on top, but unfortunately the match got away from them in the second set dropping the match 6-4, 6-2.}

_{"I feel as if Bojan and Jeremiah grew leaps and bounds as a team in this tournament facing that type of competition," Dausin said. "I would sure like to see them have a rematch in the spring. They are going to be a great team for us in our lineup moving forward."}

_{With Dausin already focused on the spring, the future is looking bright for the Rattler squad.}
