Men's Tennis suffers 7-2 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State

By Ruben Dominguez | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team suffered a tough Friday as it came up short, 7-2, against the Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State at the Annemarie Tennis Center.

The Storm (4-0) were formidable opponents for St. Mary's as their undefeated record proved to be too much to handle.

Brien Galon and Adam Dockery would battle valiantly, but would be denied the victory in No. 1 doubles as they lost 9-7 to Alcabas-Fil. This would prove to be the story for the Rattlers on the day as they dropped the remaining two doubles matches before heading into singles play.

With a 3-0 deficit, the Rattlers would manage two wins in singles, with Michael Maciel cruising to an impressive 6-3, 6-2 over Fil at No. 1. Reigning Heartland Conference Player of the Week Jose Antelo would continue his hot streak, picking up another victory, 6-3, 6-4 over Alberto Blesa.

Unfortunately, the Rattlers (2-7) would be stifled by the prowess of the Storm and would drop the match.

The Snakes will return to the courts against Holy Names on Tuesday at Rohrbach Stadium.
