Men's Tennis climbs back to .500 with 5th straight win

Rattlers take down Colorado Mesa 5-2

By Ruben Dominguez | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

DENVER — Five seemed to be the common theme of the day as the St. Mary's Men's Tennis team garnered its fifth straight victory, beating RMAC rival Colorado Mesa 5-2 on Saturday.

The Snakes remained perfect after three matches on their Colorado road trip and have now pushed their record to .500 as they sit at 7-7 on the season.

The Rattlers once again got off to an early lead in doubles, as they took two out of three from the Mavericks.

The first of the two victories came from No.1's Brien Galon and Adam Dockery, as they notched the Rattlers a point to their team total with an 8-2 triumph over Weinburg and Garcia-Rojas.

After the close loss at No. 3 doubles for St. Mary's, Jose Antelo and Michael Maciel would keep up their astounding doubles record, recording an 8-4 win over Freisehlag and Brown to put the Snakes up 2-1.

No. 1 Maciel would not have the same fortune in singles, however, suffering a loss to Weinburg. But fortunately for him, his doubles partner, Antelo, would restore the lead for good as he defeated Freischlag 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3.

The other winning doubles contingent would also record wins as No. 2 Dockery cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Garcia-Rojas, and Galon would win 6-3, 6-4 over Martin at No. 4 to round out the result for the Rattlers.

St. Mary's will complete their Rocky Mountain travels Sunday as they take on Hawaii-Pacific. With a win, the Snakes would hold a plus-.500 record for the first time this season.
