Men's Tennis earns 1st shutout of season against Metro State

DENVER — Coming off of victories versus nationally ranked opponents, St. Mary's Men's Tennis remained in their winning form, taking a resounding 8-0 victory over Metro State on Thursday.

The Snakes started their Rocky Mountain road trip in a big way, taking their first shutout victory of the season. However, the match got off to a flying start in doubles, with the Rattlers narrowly securing the sweep. No. 1's Adam Dockery and Brien Galon battled Lukosiunas and Jones to an 8-6 victory.

Now up 1-0, Michael Maciel and Jose Antelo at No. 2 and Josh Mosseri and Richie Foley both notched 9-8 wins to give the Rattlers the 3-0 victory heading into singles.

Maciel, Dockery, Antelo, and Galon would all notch singles win over their respective Roadrunner opponents at No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, and sophomore Aldo Maldonado would round out the victory with a 6-4, 6-2 over Stember.

The win improves the Rattlers record to 5-7 on the season. St. Mary's will go for four straight victories Friday as they take on Colorado State-Pueblo.
