HOUSTON — St. Mary's Baseball exploded in the seventh and eighth innings to break open a pitcher's duel in a 10-5 victory over Henderson State on Saturday.

Jack Kaiser's go-ahead RBI single in the seventh gave St. Mary's a 3-2 lead that would swell to 10-2 following a seven-run eighth inning.

Kaiser, Kyle Jenkins, Matt Smith and Zach Johnson all produced RBI hits in the game-changing eighth, as St. Mary's bounced back on Day 2 of the Houston Winter Invitational at the Houston Astros' Minute Maid Park.

Smith was 3 for 5 with three RBI and a run scored the day, while Jack Kaiser added two RBI on a 2-for-5 outing. Johnson also produced 2 RBI, going 2 for 4 with a run scored. Bryan Ramirez, the reigning Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week, finished 2 for 4 with a home run.

Kyler Lambert picked up the victory after going 2 1/2 innings in relief, striking out two and walking two while yielding no hits. He picked up for Ty Miles, who gave a strong five innings after getting the start. Miles struck out seven, walked two and allowed two runs over five innings before departing with the score tied at 2-2.

Henderson State hit a three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to eat into the Rattlers' one-time 10-2 lead.

St. Mary's will close out play at the Houston Winter Invitational when it takes on Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m. Sunday in Houston.
