Rattlers fall in 2nd annual Halo Classic

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's Rattlers visited the Our Lady of the Lake Saints in the second annual Halo Classic, dropping the contest to the home team Saints 2-0.

St. Mary's could not overcome an OLLU goal in the 17th minute of the match, despite placing 60 percent of its shots on goal. An insurance goal in the 57th minute put the match out of reach for the Rattlers who last year won the Halo Classic at home at Sigma Beta Chi Field.

This year, the Rattlers could not overcome the Saints despite junior Roxy Cruz Santory talling a team-high three shots and placing two on frame. Meanwhile, Rachel Gurinsky, Tori Andrade, Alexia Maldonado and Olivia Bachelet each posted one shot on goal.

Freshman Erin Longford recorded two saves in the loss as the Rattlers fall to 5-3-2 overall in the season.

The Rattlers will return to the pitch on Saturday Oct. 8 when they visit Texas A&M International in a conference match, beginning at 5 p.m.
