Tarleton State's attack too much for @StMUvolleyball

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — St. Mary's Volleyball traded punches with Tarleton State throughout Wednesday night's match before falling in straight sets, 3-0.
 
Jenna Paul led the Rattlers with nine kills, while Tori Estrada led the way with 15 digs. Hailey Roberts paced the TexAnns with 24 kills, leading Tarleton State to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-20 nonconference victory.
 
The Rattlers (2-9, 0-4 Heartland Conference) trailed Set 1 just 16-14 following a TexAnn attack error, but Tarleton State (10-3) fired back to take five of the next seven points to take a comfortable 21-16 lead en route to victory.
 
Set 2 saw a similar competitive pace, as Channing Hankins' service error put St. Mary's up 17-16 following 10 ties in the set. But Tarleton State closed out the set on a 9-3 run to win 25-20.
 
St. Mary's led midway through the third set as well, grabbing a 10-8 advantage during a 4-0 swing that was capped off by a TexAnn error. But Tarleton State rallied back to lead 16-11 before taking another 25-20 victory.
 
Maddi King and Tarine Grace recorded seven kills apiece, while Lauren Holman, Grace and Megan Isbell each totaled four block assists. The Rattlers had one of their better offensive showings with a .223 average but were outhit by Tarleton State, which hit .358.
