Butler's gem earns Heartland Pitcher of the Week award

SAN ANTONIO — Ace Cody Butler has acclimated quickly into the historically stacked Rattler Baseball pitching staff, earning his first career Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week award, the league announced today.
 
Butler, a senior transfer from Baytown, Texas, notched StMU's first complete-game shutout in his second start on the season, downing Lone Star Conference contender Tarleton State for his first season win.
 
Butler tossed seven scoreless innings with three strikeouts while keeping his opponent's to a .250 batting average to earn the honor this week.
 
On the year, Butler is currently 1-1 on the mound, boasting a 2.70 ERA in 13 1/3 innings pitched with seven strikeouts.
 
The Snakes are 4-4 on the season and start a four-game series with the University of Mary with a single game at 4 p.m. Friday at Dickson Stadium.
