SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Men's Basketball is proud to announce it will host its annual Operation Drive to the Basket game during Wedneday's home opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
The Rattlers welcome all fans to join us in honoring our veterans and troops at the annual
Operation Drive to the Basket initiative, which supports troops currently serving overseas, including St. Mary's ROTC alumni as well as veterans. Rattler Basketball invites all veterans and active military of the St. Mary's community and beyond out for an afternoon of appreciation with support of St. Mary's ROTC, St. Mary's Student Veterans Organization (SVO) and the St. Mary's Student Government Association.
St. Mary's ROTC and St. Mary's SVO will accept donations at the game of
nonperishable care package items to be sent to troops currently serving overseas that includes St. Mary's ROTC alumni. Money donations will also be accepted that StMU ROTC will use to purchase nonperishable items. As always, admission is free with a valid St. Mary's ID with non-St. Mary's fans receiving free admission with a donation.
In the days leading up to the event, StMU ROTC, SVO and Rattler Basketball players will also be accepting donations in the St. Mary's University Center.
At the games, fans can also participate in supporting our troops by writing letters of appreciation to current military at our "Thank a Troop" Booth. Fans can also enjoy a tailgate hosted by the St. Mary's Student Government Association and St. Mary's SVO starting at 6 p.m. in the courtyard outside the Athletics Alumni & Convocation Center (AA&CC) and Bill Greehey Arena.
Before the start of the game, Rattler Athletics will ask all veterans and active military in attendance to stand and be recognized.
