SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Volleyball displayed resolve in a 3-1 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday, overcoming a rough second set to cruise the rest of the way.

Lauren Holman had team highs in kills (10), block assists (four) and hitting percentage (.412), while Jena Paul added nine kills, and Megan Isbell and Channing Hankins added seven apiece. Hankins also added nine digs, a team high, while Maddy Walsh led the team with 20 assists.

St. Mary's (6-18, 4-9) opened up with a tight 25-23 victory in the first set before getting blindsided by OPSU (1-27, 0-12), 25-12, in the second. But the Rattlers answered the call, taking the next two sets 25-18 and 25-16 to win the match.

Despite the victory, St. Mary's was eliminated from Heartland Conference Tournament contention following Lubbock Christian's victory on Thursday, as the triumph denied the Rattlers a chance to finish among the top four teams in the league standings.

Against OPSU, St. Mary's had seven service aces and outhit the Aggies .260-.164. Rachael Scicchitano had double-digit assists in the match, finishing with 15.

St. Mary's will be back on its home court Wednesday, when it takes on cross-town foe Our Lady of the Lake at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena. Tickets are available on StMUtickets.com.
