SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Soccer put a scare into the No. 12-ranked team in the nation in the waning seconds Sunday.

Rachel Gurinsky collected a loose ball and got off a shot from point-blank range with 17 seconds remaining, but the shot sailed a yard high as Colorado Mines held on 1-0 against the Rattlers at Sigma Beta Chi Field.

Colorado Mines' Caitlin Kaltenbaugh scored the game's only goal with a strike in the 24th minute off a corner kick. The goal, fired into the far right corner of the net from eight yards out, was her first of the season.

St. Mary's was outshot 16-9 in the game, with eight of the Drillers' (3-0-1) shots coming on goal. The Rattlers (1-3) had two shots on goal.

Rattlers goalkeeper Alyssa Taramona was fantastic in the net, collecting seven saves — including two diving stops late that helped keep the Rattlers' hopes alive.

St. Mary's won't be back in action until Sunday, when it travels to San Angelo, Texas for a non-conference showdown against Angelo State. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. from The ASU Soccer Complex.
