Men's Tennis picks up two key Heartland Conference wins

DALLAS — No. 29 St. Mary's Men's Tennis improved to 3-0 in Heartland Conference play following victories over Dallas Baptist and Arkansas-Fort Smith over the weekend.
 
The Rattlers (5-3 overall) blanked Dallas Baptist, 9-0, on their home court before beating Arkansas-Fort Smith 8-1 at a neutral site match in Dallas.
 
No. 1 hitter Michael Maciel was stellar for St. Mary's, beating Dallas Baptist's Anthony Burch 6-3, 6-1 in singles play and coming back the next day to beat UAFS's Chris Ramirez 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Maciel also was unbeaten in doubles action in both matches.
 
Maciel's doubles partner, Raickovic Phillipp, was equally outstanding, beating DBU's Dean Dahlsten 6-1, 6-1 and UAFS's Jesse Green 6-0, 6-1.
 
 Men's Tennis will head to Florida for some key cross-country matches, starting with a 10 a.m. meeting with Wheaton College on Tuesday in Tampa, Fla.
