Men's, Women's Tennis move up in ITA national poll

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's Tennis program is continuing to reign success on the court. And the nation is taking notice.
 
In the latest ITA national ranking poll, both the Men's and Women's Tennis programs have moved up in its ranks with the Lady Rattlers coming in at No. 19 and the Rattlers at No. 27.
 
Previously, the Women were ranked No. 21 and the Men No. 29.
 
The Women are the highest ranked squad within the Heartland Conference with UA Fort Smith being the only other nationally ranked team at No. 50.
 
On the Men's side, the Rattlers and rival St. Edward's are the only two representatives from the league on the national poll with St. Edward's ranked one above St. Mary's at No. 26.
 
Individually, both the Men's and Women's Tennis teams have its No. 1's ranked as the Top 50 in the nation.
 
Michael Maciel (Fr., Sugar Land, Texas) is ranked No. 48 in the nation while Mariana Rong (Jr., Jinan, China) is the nation's No. 30 player.
 
Both squads are currently undefeated in Heartland Conference play with the Men hosting a 7-6 overall record and the Women a 9-3 overall record.
 
They are both back to conference play Friday against Newman in Dallas with the Women playing at 10 a.m. and the Men at 2 p.m.
