SAN ANTONIO — Men's Tennis ended its final home game of the season in style Tuesday, picking up a statement win over the No. 24
th ranked team in the nation, Ouachita Baptist.
The No. 29 Rattlers bested the No. 24 Tigers 6-3 in their final stance at Rohrbach Stadium, snapping a three-game losing streak to improve to 7-6 on the season.
On the singles court, four Rattlers picked up points including
Philipp Raickovic (Fr., Kurallee, Germany) in the No. 2 spot and
Matt Banner (So., Mason, Texas),
Jared Fellows (So., Boerne, Texas) and
Brien Galon (So., San Antonio) in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively.
The Rattlers' No. 1
Michael Maciel (Fr., Sugar Land, Texas) faced one of his toughest competitors yet, squaring off with the No. 3 player in the nation, Marko Boskovic.
Maciel fell in singles 6-2, 6-2 while he nearly defeated the ace in doubles along with Raickovic, falling 9-7.
Fellows and
Bob Resink (Fr., Hoogeveen, Netherlands) and Galon and
Richard Foley (Fr., Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland) picked up the Rattlers' final two points in doubles.
The Rattlers are back to Heartland Conference play in their next match, facing Newman at 2 p.m. Friday in Dallas.
