SAN ANTONIO — Men's and Women's Tennis both battled two highly ranked nationally teams this week, both falling to Saint Leo and Rollins.
The two losses were the first upsets for Women's Tennis this season as its undefeated record was wiped by No. 8 Saint Leo on Wednesday, 6-3, in Saint Leo, Fla. and No. 9 Rollins, 7-2, in Winter Park, Fla. on Thursday.
Against No. 8 Saint Leo,
Felicity Delgado picked up the point in the three spot as her opponent retired while
Jamie Lee Denton defeated her opponent in the four spot 6-3, 6-2. Playing as the Rattlers' No. 6,
Joanie Bryant won by default.
Denton again picked up a point for the Rattlers against No. 9 Rollins, beating Taylor Brown 6-4, 6-1 as the Rattlers' No. 4 while
Mariana Rong and
Cristina Lopez picked up the final point as No. 1 in doubles, winning 8-1.
Ranked No. 21 in the nation, Women's Tennis dropped to 9-2 on the season with the two losses.
On the Men's courts, No. 29 Rattlers fell to No. 8 Saint Leo 7-2 in Saint Leo, Fla. on Wednesday and dropped to No. 15 Rollins 9-0 in Winter Park, Fla. on Thursday.
Against the one of the Top 10 teams in the nation, Raickovic Philipp defeated his Oskar Nurmio of Rollins 6-2, 6-0 as the Rattlers' No. 2.
Brien Galon picked up the Rattlers' final point as the No. 6, defeating Sam El Nehmani 6-4, 6-1.
The two losses dropped Men's Tennis to 6-4 on the season.
Men's Tennis takes on Division I UTSA at 2 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio while the Women return home to face Northeastern State at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rohrbach Stadium with a Rattler Nation Social taking place during the match.
