OKLAHOMA CITY — Marvin Whitt scored 19 points and Justin Alexander added 18 on 8-of-9 shooting to help St. Mary's get a much-needed bounce-back win against Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.

Nearly leading wire-to-wire, the Rattlers topped Oklahoma Christian 74-62 in Heartland Conference action before a crowd of 300 at the Eagles' Nest.

With the victory, St. Mary's (13-4, 6-3), which remains two games behind league-leading Texas A&M International, moved into a tie for third place with Texas-Permian Basin in the Heartland standings.

Aided in part by Alexander's 8-for-9 outing, the Rattlers shot 51.9 percent (27 of 52) from the floor while holding the Eagles (7-10, 3-6) to 43.8-percent shooting.

St. Mary's took a 28-23 lead into halftime after leading the entire way outside of a brief two-point deficit early, and never looked back while opening up a double-digit lead moments into the second frame.

Binney's 3-pointer at the 18:46 mark opened up a 35-23 lead, and the Eagles would never get any closer than five the rest of the way. St. Mary's led by as many as 15 points in the game.

StMU returns home Thursday when the Rattlers host Newman at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
