Women's Soccer falls to DBU in Heartland Tournament opener

AUSTIN, Texas — St. Mary's Women's Soccer fell in the first round of the Heartland Conference Tournament Thursday, dropping to the No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist, 4-0.
 
Entering the tournament as the No. 3 seed, the Rattlers advanced to postseason play for the fourth straight season after posting a 5-4 conference record this season.
 
Challenged from the first whistle, the Patriots (12-5-1) netted their first goal five minutes into the match and tacked on three more throughout the 90 minutes. The Rattlers were outshot 17-3 for the game with Alyssa Taramona (So., Forney, Texas) working hard in the net to record six saves. Senior Paola Ostos (El Paso, Texas) took over for Taramona with 26 minutes remaining the game, recording one save.
 
Lynsie Shaw (So., San Antonio), Kyla Simek (Sr., Fort Worth, Texas) and Lauren Peck (So., San Antonio) tallied the Rattlers' three shots for the game with Peck's being shot on goal.
 
The Rattlers ended their season 8-9-1 and had seven players named All-Conference while earning two Heartland Conference Player of the Week awards.
