Box Score

SAN ANTONIO — Women's Soccer took Rogers State away in the second half of Monday's game, scoring four goals to claim its second straight shutout, 4-0.

Four different Rattlers connected in Monday's victory at St. Mary's intramural field, all in the second frame, to remain unscathed in Heartland Conference play.

With the win, St. Mary's improved to 5-4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play to mark itself as No. 2 in league standings.

Scoring for the Rattlers was Kristal Williams, Sam Lara, Leah Snelson and Jamey Coronado to bring the Rattlers' season goal tally to 24.

Williams (Fr., Ponder, Texas) was credited with the game-winner as she struck first to start the Rattlers' scoring frenzy four minutes into the second half, assisted by Megan Tomlin (Fr., Dallas).

The game-winner marked Williams' second goal on the season, showing her key versatility as she leads the Rattlers in assists with five, just three away from placing herself on both the season and career records for assists.

"I think that just comes off of everyone else's work," said Williams who recorded her fifth assist against Newman in the Rattlers' previous game. "I mean I can play a ball in but it only counts if someone else gets on the end of it."

On the scoring end of Monday's game, Williams' goal started the Rattlers' scoring landslide into victory.

Lara (So., San Antonio) made it 2-0 game in her first goal on the season, hitting the back of the net off an assist from Lauren Peck at the 65-minute mark and Snelson (Sr., Dallas) flashed two defenders for an unassisted strike at 74-minute mark to record her second goal on the season.

With only one second remaining in the game, Coronado (Sr., San Antonio) drove home the victory, dumping the ball in off a deflected shot into an open net.

The Rattlers were in control for the entirety of the game, recording 28 shots with 16 on target.

"I think it really helped us playing on our home field," said Williams of the Rattlers' first two games back on campus since the 2010 season. "Everything comes more natural and we finally put it together and got two wins out of it."

The Hillcats' keeper Jordan Harris played an impressive game, recording 10 saves in 83 minutes of play. The Hillcats (1-7, 0-2 in conference) were kept to six shots for the game with two shot on goal.

Williams led the Rattlers with seven shots with four on target followed by Kaitie Kasperitis (Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas) with five shots with four shot on goal. Snelson had four shots with one on goal while Lara and Karly Moe (So., Wadsworth, Ill.) each recorded three shots with two shot on goal.

The 4-0 victory gave keeper Alyssa Taramona (So., Forney, Texas) her second shutout on the season. Taramona recorded one save against the Hillcats to improve to 5-4 on the year.

The Rattlers begin a four-game road trip starting Saturday as they face provisional conference member Lubbock Christian at 2:30 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas.
