Women's Soccer stymied by DBU, shutout in Heartland matchup

DALLAS — Dallas Baptist scored once in the first half and again in the second, knocking the St. Mary's women's soccer team out of second place and into third place in the Heartland Conference standings.
 
DBU won 2-0 behind goals from Danielle Presley (38th minute) and Ashley Cox (57th minute), as the Patriots dominated possession by taking 22 shots to St. Mary's five.
 
The Rattlers, 3-2 in Heartland play and 6-6-1 overall, will return to action Monday, when they travel to Oklahoma City for another Heartland matchup that will play pivotal in the race to the tournament.
 
On Saturday, Alyssa Taramona recorded seven saves for St. Mary's in the net, doing her best to stave off an attack that saw nine of 22 shots on goal.
 
Ashlyn Leighton and Kristal Williams lead St. Mary's with one shot on goal apiece.
