Tryouts for the 2018-2019 school year will take place on April 23-25, 2018. Tryouts will take place from 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. at the Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center Movement Studio, located at St. Mary's University. Attire for tryouts:
• Fitted black top, leotard or sports bra and black jazz shorts
• Jazz shoes and sneakers are required
• Full performance hair and makeup
Participants will be evaluated on the following:
• High Kicks: Left and right straight kicks, fan kicks and hitch kicks
• Leaps: Left and right leap, Russian, left and right switch leap and calypso
• Turns: Double and triple pirouettes, disc turn, axle, chaine and pique turns, and fouettes
• Attitude: Individual interviews will be conducted during tryouts
• Two routines taught and performed at tryouts - one jazz and one hip-hop
• Adaptability with dance style and technique
• Ability to learn and retain material quickly and effectively
