ALPINE, Texas — The St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team remained unbeaten in Lone Star Conference play, winning 1-0 at Sul Ross State on Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior AJ Valdivia (Perris, Calif.) found sophomore Kai Louviere (Hondo, Texas) in the 33rd minute for the lone goal of the day. The Rattlers (6-3, 2-0) put 11 of their 22 shots on goal, and limited the Lobos (0-7, 0-1) to one shot on goal and five total in the contest.
 
"This was a little bit of a frustrating day for us today," said Head Coach Johnny Clifford. "We didn't play very well and found it difficult to adjust to the Sul Ross pitch. We lacked attention to detail on the small things, and ultimately, that kept us from scoring more goals. However, I must mention how amazing the Sul Ross keeper played today. He made a lot of great saves and really kept his team in the game. We bring the three points back to San Antonio."
 
Fernando Hernandez, the goalkeeper for the Lobos, made nine saves in the game, and midfielder Aldo Gomez put the only shot on goal, which freshman Nichita Misac (Lisbon, Portugal) saved for the Rattlers.
 
The Rattlers return home to Sigma Beta Chi field to host St. Edward's in the annual Battle of the Saints on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. The Hilltoppers lost 2-0 at Lubbock Christian on Saturday and host Sul Ross State on Wednesday before traveling down I-35.
