DENTON, Texas — The St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team hung tough with 12th-ranked and undefeated Texas Woman's but dropped a 1-0 decision at Pioneer Soccer Park on Wednesday evening.
 
The Rattlers (5-3-1, 3-2) put five of their nine shots on goal, while freshman Callie Gilliam (Lake Jackson, Texas) made her first start in goal and made a career-high nine saves, with seven coming in the second half.
 
The Pioneers (9-0, 5-0) scored in the 35th minute, as Lauren Wade found the bottom right of the goal after receiving the ball from Bri Luna and Whitni Newbill.
 
It is the second-straight game the Rattlers have lost 1-0 at Pioneer Soccer Park, as the Pioneers knocked the Rattlers out of the Lone Star Conference Tournament in overtime by the same score.
 
The Rattlers come home to host St. Edward's on Saturday in the annual Battle of the Saints game. The Hilltoppers tied Angelo State 1-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Austin to move to 1-5-2 on the year.
