Women's Soccer Falters at No. 3 DBU

DALLAS — It took the No. 3 team in the nation to keep the St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team off the scoreboard for the first time this season, as DBU defeated the Rattlers 3-0 at Patriot Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Rattlers (5-2-1, 3-1-0) put both of their shots on goal as freshmen Kamrynn Martinez (Dallas) and Eva Valeriano (Austin, Texas) each put one on frame in the first half, but the Patriots' (7-0, 4-0) defense did not allow another shot the remainder of the game.
 
DBU scored in the 5th, 16th and 65th minutes for the 3-0 victory, as they took 23 shots in the contest and 11 were on target. Sophomore Molly Lyons (Galveston, Texas) made five saves and surrendered three, while freshman Callie Gilliam (Lake Jackson, Texas) collected three saves over the final 21:09.
 
The Rattlers remain on the road, playing at Texas Woman's on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. before returning home for the Battle of the Saints against St. Edward's on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
