ALPINE, Texas — The St. Mary's University Men's Tennis team won its 10th match of the 2026 season with a 7-0 victory at Sul Ross State on Wednesday.
The Rattlers are now 1-1 in Lone Star Conference play and improved to 10-3 overall. The Lobos dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in league action.
Freshmen
Ollie Eriksson (Austin, Texas) and
Victor Velter (Perpignan, France) evened their record at 1-1 with a 6-0 victory at line two doubles, while the freshmen tandem of
Diego Alvarez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and
Colton Rogers (New Braunfels, Texas) posted the same score at number three for the first point. Junior
Louis Hein (Hamburg, Germany) and senior
Fabian Rosales (Hollywood, Fla.) gave the Rattlers the clean sweep with a 6-2 win on court one.
Florian Smalto, a sophomore from Paris, France, opened the singles scoring with his 6-0, 6-0 win on court three, while sophomore
Lucas Castillo Sanchez (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and freshman
Nikita Gavrilonoks (Riga, Latvia) finished minutes behind him on court four with identical scores to clinch the victory.
Senior
Aaron Ben Anton (Remseck, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany) stepped onto the court after Smalto, winning line five with the same score as Anton, as did sophomore
Lincoln Baldonado (Glendale, Ariz.) at line six. Fabbri made it a clean sweep with his 6-2, 6-2 victory on court two.
The match was the first of five straight on the road for the men's team, and they continue the lengthy road trip with two matches at Western New Mexico on Friday and Saturday. Both are slated to begin at 1 p.m., and Friday's will be a non-conference tilt.
