KERRVILLE, Texas — As the St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team begins to adjust to having a small roster, the results continue to be positive with a 7-0 win over Howard Payne and a 6-1 win against Schreiner at the George & Frances Cree Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Rattlers (3-1) weren't the only team shorthanded, as Howard Payne had only four players available, and the Rattlers made quick work, with no player losing more than three games in singles or doubles, including a 6-0, 6-0 win for senior
Gia Posito (Houston) at line three.
Against Schreiner, the doubles team of Posito and
Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) won 6-0, while the freshmen tandem of
Breeze Simon (Dallas) and
Sarah Wooten (Beaumont, Texas) won 6-1 for the first point, despite having to forfeit three doubles.
Posito moved up to line two for the nightcap, but her results were the same, winning both sets 6-0. Simon, getting to play singles for the first time in three matches, also posted the shutout victory, doing so at five singles. She won the last two via forfeit.
The Rattlers return to the courts on Tuesday, Feb. 10, across town at Our Lady of the Lake. Doubles action is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m.
