Rattler Invitational • Feb. 23-24

•   The St. Mary's Women's Golf team competes in its third tournament of the spring, hosting the annual Rattler Invitational. The Rattlers have hosted a tournament every year since 2002 and this will be the 15th annual at the Dominion Country Club.
•   The Rattlers are the defending champions of the Rattler Invitational, winning last year with a 54-hole total of 882.
•   Last week, St. Mary's finished third at The Southern Invite, shooting a 43-over-par 904 over the three rounds. Taylor Wilczek led the team, finishing tied for seventh with a 223 (+7).
•   Sophomore Sabree Lefebvre was named the Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week after her eighth place finish at the Texas State Invitational. She finished one under par at 215 (73-70-72), taking 11 strokes off her previous 54-hole tournament best.
•   The field for the Rattler Invitational is Angelo State, #34 Arkansas Tech, Cameron, Colorado Christian, #4 DBU, Lubbock Christian, #29 Midwestern State, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Pittsburg State, (host) #20 St. Mary's, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Dallas, UT Permian Basin, #7 UT Tyler, Washburn, and Western New Mexico. •   The Rattlers lineup for the Rattler Invitational is 1) Taylor Wilczek, 2) Brielle Burns, 3) Sabree Lefebvre, 4) Sophia Perkins, and 5) Manon Verret. Both Abbey Anderson and Gladys Taboada are golfing as individuals. The Rattlers will be paired with golfers from DBU and UT Tyler in the first two rounds, and will start on holes 1-3 in the 8:15 shotgun start.
•   Skies are supposed to be clear in San Antonio both days, with temperatures in the high 60s on Monday and climbing to the high 70s on Tuesday. On Monday, winds should be out of the east at 5-10 mph, while Tuesday is calling for 10-20 mph winds from the Southwest.
•   After the conclusion of the fall semester, six Rattlers were named to the Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll, with Brielle Burns recording a perfect 4.00 GPA for the semester. Abbey Anderson, Sabree Lefebvre, Sophia Perkins, Manon Verret and Taylor Wilczek were also named to the team.
•   The Rattlers are ranked No. 15 in the WGCA Poll that was released on Nov. 14. Lone Star Conference foe and defending national champion, DBU rose to second, while UT Tyler is 6th, West Texas A&M 23rd, and Midwestern State is getting votes. Wingate took over the top spot with 490 points.
•   A season ago, Taylor Wilczek received Lone Star Second-Team All-Conference honors. She and Sabree Lefebvre also earned Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll honors.
