SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team shot a season-best 58.9 percent from the field in winning the first-ever game against UT-Dallas, 81-63 on Saturday evening.
The Rattlers (14-5, 7-4) used a balanced scoring attack and scored 50 of their 81 points in the paint in the 18-point victory.
The 58.9 shooting percentage is the highest for St. Mary's since Feb. 11, 2023, when the Rattlers shot 64.2 percent in an 83-67 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith. The team also had another strong night at the free throw line, making 10-of-12 (83.3 percent). It is the 10th time this season the Gold and Blue have shot over 80 percent in a game.

Justin Britt (Goose Creek, S.C.) paced the offensive attack, making 8-of-12 from the floor for a game-high 20 points, and he tied his career-high with four steals, as four of the five starters scored in double digits. Senior
Eddie McPhee (Denver, Colo.) was a stat-sheet filler, scoring 15, grabbing a game-high seven rebounds, and he had two assists, two steals and two blocked shots.

Olaverr Camacho (Barberena, Santa Rosa, Guatemala) chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

Damani Claxton (Bronx, N.Y.) tied his career-high with seven assists, leading the game with a +/- ranking of 21.
Four Comets tied for team-high honors in scoring with 11 points each, as Petyon Dulin, Kris White, Jordan Balderaz and Will Warren all hit the mark.
The Rattlers head back out on the road, facing Texas A&M International on Thursday and rematching with Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday. The Dustdevils dropped a close 65-63 decision at Western New Mexico, while the Javelinas edged out Sul Ross State, 70-64.
