THIS WEEK IN RATTLERS TENNIS
ITA South Central Regional • Sept. 25-27

Tyler, Texas • Summers Tennis Center

•    The St. Mary's Women's Tennis Team will be in Tyler this weekend for the annual ITA South Central Regional. Winners of the singles and doubles brackets will automatically qualify for the ITA Cup on Oct. 15-19, while at-large berths are also available.

•    Isabella Olsson, Gia Posito, Suryanshi, Alessia Terlizzi, Sarah Wooten, and Selina Wu are all slated to compete at the ITA Regionals in both singles and doubles play. Olsson and Wooten, Suryanshi and Wu, and Posito and Terlizzi will team up for doubles.

•    This will be the first time this season the Rattlers have played on courts other than Rohrbach Tennis Stadium as they hosted both the Brother Al Invitational and the Lilly Kimbell Memorial Invite to start the year. Rain shortened play both weekends, but the team had strong showings both weeks. The Summers Tennis Center is located on the campus of UT Tyler, and has eight courts.

•    Freshman Isabella Olsson is a perfect 5-0 in singles play this season, and she and fellow freshman Sarah Wooten are 5-1 on the doubles court.

•    Six of the eight Rattlers on the roster are currently on a winning streak. Isabella Olsson has won all five of her singles matches, while senior Alessia Terlizzi is 3-0 and Gia Posito has won her last three.

•    The Rattlers return three Lone Star All-Conference performers from last season in Selina Wu (First-Team Singles, honorable mention doubles), Alessia Terlizzi (Second-Team Singles, honorable mention doubles), and Gia Posito (honorable mention singles and doubles). Bill Macom was named the 2024-25 Lone Star Women's Coach of the Year, while Wu won the league's sportsmanship award for StMU.

•    Selia Wu made the quarterfinals of singles and the semifinals in doubles at the ITA South Central Regional a year ago, earning an at-large berth to the prestigious ITA Cup in both. Wu also made the finals in 2023 as a freshman.
