Baseball Almost Pulls Off Crazy Comeback

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Baseball team almost pulled off the comeback, scoring five runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth before Texas A&M International recorded the final out to hold on for a 10-9 win in the series finale between the two teams.

Eight of the nine Rattlers (14-8, 12-8) recorded at least one hit in the game and five of the nine had two as the team scored its nine runs on 13 hits. The Dustdevils (10-16, 9-15) plated 10 runs on 17 hits and were aided by three St. Mary's errors.

Texas A&M International scored two in the first, but the Rattlers took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the second. The Dustdevils scored a pair in both the third and fourth innings to regain the lead and pushed the lead to 10-4 with four runs in the eight before StMU scored five in the ninth.

Senior Brendan Concannon (Flower Mound, Texas) hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning after blasting a three-run shot in the second inning, accounting for five of the team's nine runs. Senior Trey Guajardo (San Juan, Texas) was 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs.

Junior Hagen Rose (Troy, Texas) took the loss on the hill, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of work.
