SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Men's Tennis team swept Sul Ross State on Sunday morning to stay undefeated in Lone Star Conference action.
The Rattlers improved to 7-5 on the year and 2-0 in league play, while the Lobos fell to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in LSC.
Due to a shortage of players, the Lobos had to forfeit at three doubles and five and six singles.
St. Mary's won 6-0 at number one and 6-1 at number two doubles, as freshman René Barbier (Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina) and senior
Ian Freire (Guatemala City, Guatemala) won their first collegiate dual match at line two.
All four singles won in straight sets, with
Leonardo Fabbri (Faenza, Italy),
Lucas Castillo Sanchez (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and
Pierre Copin (Vidauban, Var, France) winning by double bagels. Barbier posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four for his first collegiate spring victory.
The match was the final home match for the Rattlers. They close the regular season with six straight on the road, beginning at No. 5 Lubbock Christian on Thursday, April 3 at 2 p.m.
