SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Esports teams are on a roll this spring, with both the Rocket League and Call of Duty teams achieving three-week winning streaks. St. Mary's Valorant and Fortnite squads are making progress despite challenging games last week.
Rocket League secured its victory over Saint Peter's with another 4-0 series score. The Call of Duty team continued its streak, sweeping the Atlantic Cape Buccaneers 3-0 in a Valentine's Day match, marking the third consecutive week without losing a single map.
The Rattlers' Valorant team fought hard in their match against Saint Joseph's, losing the series 2-0. Despite taking the Hawks to overtime in the first map (12-14), the Rattlers lost the second map (3-13). Currently, the Rattlers have a regular season record of 2-1 and will face Southern Maine on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
The Fortnite squad faced a series of difficult weeks, not earning enough placement points to move the needle on the leaderboard. Currently, the squad sits in the lower third of teams with plans to improve their leaderboard place during their next match on Thursday, February 20.
