SAN ANGELO, Texas — Seniors
Alyssa Koehl,
Laurene Robinson and
Landri Withers were all honored on the Lone Star All-Conference teams at the pre-championship banquet on Wednesday evening.
Koehl, a senior libero from New Braunfels, Texas, earned a spot on the Lone Star All-Academic team, the All-Conference First Team and she was voted the Libero of the Year by the league's 18 head coaches. Withers, an outside hitter from Stephenville, Texas, joined her on the First Team, while Robinson, a right-side hitter from Bedford, Texas, grabbed a spot on the honorable mention team.
Koehl was named the league's final Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after eclipsing 2,000 career digs over the weekend. She ranks second in school history with 2,048 digs and averages 5.41 digs per set this season, ranking 14th in the nation. Koehl has posted 15 matches this season of 20 or more digs, and she's recorded 10 or more in 26 of the 27 matches. Koehl has also tallied six matches this season with three or more aces, ranking third in the league with 41.
Withers, a six-rotation player for the Rattlers, leads the team with 15 double-doubles and earlier this season became only the third player in school history with more than 1,000 career kills and digs. Three times this season she's had 20 or more kills in a match, eight times she's served up three or more aces, and 18 times she's collected 10 or more digs. Withers also ranks fourth in the conference with 39 aces this season and is fifth overall with 337 kills.
Robinson worked her way back into the starting lineup this season after suffering a season-ending leg injury last year. She's recorded four double-doubles and been in double-figure kills 18 times. Robinson finished strong, tying for the team lead in kills in both matches last weekend and has led or tied for the team lead in five of the final six regular-season matches.
Lubbock Christian's Lily Bickley was named the Academic Player of the Year, while Angelo State's Madi Parrish earned both Player and Offensive Player of the Year, Taytum Stow from West Texas A&M is the Defensive Player of the Year, and LCU's Camdyn Sears is both the Freshman and Setter of the Year. Alyssa Rojo from Texas Woman's was named the Newcomer of the Year and Keith Giboney from Lubbock Christian is the Coach of the Year.
The Rattlers face UT Tyler in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20.
