Women's Tennis Wraps Up Fall With States Up Slam This Weekend

•    The St. Mary's Women's Tennis Team wraps up the fall season at the States Up Slam, hosted by Texas State at the Bobcats Tennis Complex in San Marcos. There will be no live scoring available for the tournament. Matches will begin at 9 a.m. both days.

•    The Rattlers will compete against Division I opponents from Sam Houston State, Texas State, UT Arlington and UTSA over the two day round-robin draw format.

•    Janel Ospanova, Suryanshi, Alessia Terlizzi and Selina Wu will be the four Rattlers competing in the final competition of the fall.

•    Gia Posito and Alessia Terlizzi advanced to the doubles final at the ITA South Central Regional before losing to the Midwestern State team in the finals. The pair went 4-1 over the tournament, only dropping eight games in their four wins.

•    Selina Wu won the consolation draw at the ITA South Central Regional. After being upset in her opening round, Wu won four of the five in straight sets and only dropped one game in the final, defeating Luisa Moraes from UT Tyler, 6-0, 6-1. In 2024, Wu made the quarterfinals in singles and semifinals in doubles after making the finals in 2023 as a freshman.

•    Seven of the eight Rattlers have posted at least a .500 record during the fall tournament season. Senior Alessia Terlizzi sports the best singles record at 6-1, while Gia Posito is 9-1 in doubles play to lead the team. All eight Rattlers have at least a .500 record on the doubles courts.

•    The Rattlers return three Lone Star All-Conference performers from last season in Selina Wu (First-Team Singles, honorable mention doubles), Alessia Terlizzi (Second-Team Singles, honorable mention doubles), and Gia Posito (honorable mention singles and doubles). Bill Macom was named the 2024-25 Lone Star Women's Coach of the Year, while Wu won the league's sportsmanship award for StMU.
