Trio Goes Undefeated for Women's Tennis

ABILENE, Texas – At the Cowboy Classic, hosted by Hardin-Simmons, the St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team had three players post a perfect 3-0 record in the hidden duals during singles action, while six different doubles combinations went without a loss.
 
Sophomore Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) remained undefeated this fall, winning all three matches. She and doubles partner Karen Kondo (Tokyo, Japan) once again won all three matches to move to 6-0 on the fall.
 
Senior Callah Preti (Liberty Lake, Wash.) needed a pair of third-set tiebreakers but she dug deep to go unbeaten in singles play and she was a perfect 3-0 in doubles action, winning two matches with sophomore Janel Ospanova (Karaganda, Kazakhstan) and one with fellow senior Elisa Rodriguez (Houston). Ospanova used the momentum in doubles play to carry over into her singles, winning all three matches.
 
Kondo, Alessia Terlizzi (Andria, Italy), Stela Sifuentes (Eagle Pass, Texas), Rodriguez and newcomer Gia Posito (Houston) all were 2-1 in singles action.
 
The Rattlers women have a quick turnaround, beginning the ITA South Central Regional on Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Arlington Tennis Center, competing for the third-straight week.
