Women's Tennis to Play Three in Five Days

NET POINTS

•    St. Mary's Women's Tennis wraps up the regular season with three matches in five days on a long road trip. The Rattlers start in Alpine with future Lone Star foe Sul Ross State on Wednesday before playing at Western New Mexico on Friday and UT Permian Basin on Sunday.

•    Sul Ross State is 0-11 on the season and this will be the first meeting in school history. WNMU is 1-19 on the year and 0-9 in conference play. The Rattlers are a perfect 7-0 in history against the Mustangs with a 1-0 record in Silver City. UT Permian Basin sports a record of 8-14 overall and 3-6 in league action. All-time, the Rattlers are 10-0 against the Falcons with a 3-0 mark in Odessa.

•    St. Mary's is 4-4 in conference play and tied for fifth in the Lone Star Conference standings. The top eight advance to the conference tournament at the Arlington Tennis Center April 25-27.

•    StMU has split each of the four weeks of the Lone Star Conference season and in the last three weeks have won the first match and lost the second. Last week, the Rattlers swept UAFS on Senior Day before being swept by #28 Cameron.

•    The Rattlers are ranked #38 in the national rankings (April 10). Individually, freshman Selina Wu is ranked 13th, and junior Paula Garrote is #54. Wu and junior Karen Kondo are ranked 16th in doubles play.

•    Sophomore Stela Sifuentes has won the match-clinching point for the Rattlers four times this season, while Kyndall Quiroz and Alessia Terlizzi have each clinched twice and Elisa Rodriguez has done so once.

•    Junior transfer Karen Kondo became the second Rattler this spring to earn Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors, joining Paula Garrote from week 1. Kondo won seven matches to over Spring Break, three in singles and four in doubles to help the Rattlers to a 4-0 week, including a sweep over #33 Hawai'i Pacific. Kondo won all three of her singles matches in straight straights, while she and partner Selina Wu were 4-0 with a win over the #47 tandem from HPU.

•    All nine Rattlers who were enrolled at the University were named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll during the fall semester, and five recorded perfect 4.00 GPAs: Paula Garrote, Bailey Godwin, Callah Preti, Stela Sifuentes and Alessia Terlizzi.
