SAN ANTONIO — The home finale didn't quite go the way the St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team wanted on Saturday afternoon as they fell 7-0 to the No. 28 Cameron Aggies to move to 4-4 in Lone Star Conference action.
"We should certainly never be swept on our home courts," said Director of Tennis
Bill Macom. "Fortunately, we still have another week to work on some little things and to see what we will do with our doubles combinations."
The lone win for the Gold and Blue (10-6) was at number three doubles as junior
Karen Kondo (Tokyo, Japan) and freshman
Janel Ospanova (Karaganda, Kazakhstan) pulled off the 6-2 victory.
Four of the six matches in singles went the distance and three were decided by only one break. The Rattlers also won the opening set in three of the four three-setters, but the Aggies (11-6) closed out all of them.
The Rattlers head out on the road for their final three regular season contests of the year, taking on future Lone Star Conference opponent Sul Ross State on Wednesday before heading to Western New Mexico on Friday and UT Permian Basin on Sunday.
