SAN ANTONIO — Four of the six singles matches went three sets, but the Cameron Aggies Men's Tennis team was able to hold on for the 5-2 win at St. Mary's University on Saturday morning.
The Rattlers (4-8, 2-4 Lone Star Conference) dropped the doubles point, however the tandem of seniors
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) and
Ryan Koth (Boerne, Texas) upset the 43rd-ranked pair of Martin Hlavacek and Alexander Post, 6-2, at line one.
"We have definitely improved match-by-match," said Director of Tennis
Bill Macom. "It's too bad doubles didn't go our way today. We still need more focus on our first serve location and percentage."
Senior
Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia) became the first Rattler to win 10 dual matches this season, winning his sixth consecutive with a 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 on court three.
Senior
Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) scored the other point for the Gold and Blue, winning in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-4 for his fifth-straight victory.
The Rattlers play their final three games on the road, taking on future Lone Star Conference foe Sul Ross State on Wednesday, April 17 before facing Western New Mexico on Friday and UT Permian Basin on Sunday to wrap up the regular season slate.
