SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University Men's Tennis team won its second-straight match with a 6-1 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday morning for Senior Day.

"I'm proud of how the players fought today," said Director of Tennis
Bill Macom. "Emotions can run high on senior days and I thought our guys did a good job of maintaining their composure. These seniors have accomplished a lot throughout their time here and there is more out there for them to achieve."

In a tightly contested doubles point, senior
Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia) and junior
Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain) won 6-2 at line two, while the Lions (3-10, 1-4 Lone Star Conference) won line three, putting the pressure on the number ones.Â

Rattler seniors
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) and
Ryan Koth (Boerne, Texas) got a late break of serve for the 7-5 win and the coveted doubles point.

Senior
Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) extended the Rattlers (4-7, 2-3 Lone Star) lead to 2-0 with his 6-3, 6-2 win on court five. Irdoja finished moments later on court three with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

Sophomore
Aaron Ben Anton (Remseck, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany) also used a late break in the first set to win in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3 at number six. Koth won 6-4, 6-2 at line four and Soler posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court one for the Rattlers six points.

The team doesn't have much time to rest as they host Cameron on Saturday at 10 a.m.Â
