SAN ANTONIO — In their first match in 12 days, the St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team made short work of the visiting Saint Mary Spires, winning 7-0.

Callah Preti (Liberty Lake, Wash.) and
Elisa Rodriguez (Houston), playing together for the first time this season, won 6-0 on court three, while freshman
Janel Ospanova (Karaganda, Kazakhstan) and sophomore
Stela Sifuentes (Eagle Pass, Texas) also pitched a shutout on court two.Â

The tandem of junior
Paula Garrote (Cartagena, Spain) and sophomore
Alessia Terlizzi (Andria, Italy) moved up to the number one spot for the first time this year and extended their winning streak to seven straight and a perfect 5-0 in the spring with their 6-2 victory.

Both Rodriguez at number six and senior
Kyndall Quiroz (San Antonio) at number five won without surrendering a game.

Junior transfer
Karen Kondo (Tokyo, Japan) played on court three for the first time this season and won 6-0, 6-2, while Sifuentes dropped only three games in a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number four.

Both Ospanova on court one and Terlizzi on court two surrendered four games in their wins. Ospanova won the first set 6-0 and dug deep to hold on for the 6-4 set two victory. Terlizzi won by identical set scores of 6-2, 6-2.

The Rattlers recently added a match against Bethel (KS) on March 15 at 9 a.m. before they depart for Richardson and a pair of neutral site matches at the UTD Tennis Complex against Ouachita Baptist and Hawaii Pacific.
